UNI AIR - Band and DJ Contest for students

Call for applications: Application to perform at the 17th UNI AIR on 12.06.2024

Nature of the event

The event is organized by the Studentenwerk Dresden and the Dresden student clubs. The UNI AIR is part of the "Dresdner Studententage" (Dresden Student Days) and aims to discover new talents in the student culture sector, present them to a wider audience and provide financial support for the best performers on the night.

It is an open air event with a covered 10 x 6 m stage. Professional sound and lighting equipment is provided.

Place and time

The UNI AIR will take place on June 12, 2024 from 6 p.m. to midnight on the outdoor area behind the HSZ of the TU Dresden. There is no entrance fee.

Applications

We are looking for student bands/soloists and DJs who dare to go public and would like to win the Studentenwer's sponsorship prizes. The prizes are endowed as follows:

Requirements

The groups must consist of at least 50% students who are studying at a university supervised by Studentenwerk Dresden.

A double application (e.g. with more than one band) is not permitted.

Soloists must be students at a university supervised by Studentenwerk Dresden.

Application documents

  • For bands: Provision of at least three tracks in mp3 format via DropBox or other upload methods (e.g. SoundCloud)
  • For DJs: Provision of a 10 to 15-minute demo mix in mp3 format via drop box or other upload method (e.g. SoundCloud)

Application deadline: 14/04/2024

Competition procedure

The competition takes place in two phases. Depending on the number of applications, preliminary rounds will take place in April and May 2024. A maximum of six bands and DJs can qualify for the final on June 12, 2024.

When applying, bands and DJs must be aware that the performance time at UNI AIR and the preliminary rounds is limited to 20 minutes.

Depending on the type of performance and the technical conditions, the organizer alone decides on the order of the performance.

A jury appointed by the Studentenwerk Dresden will decide who is eligible to take part in the preliminary rounds.

The preliminary rounds and the final will be judged 50/50 by a jury and the audience. Legal recourse is excluded!
