Support services for Ukrainian students

Published on Thursday, 3.3.2022

We would like to take this opportunity to provide you with an overview of support services for students affected by the war.

Counseling in connection with social, economic and study organization issues is offered by the Social Counseling Service (Sozialberatung) of Studentenwerk Dresden. In addition, the Social Counseling Service also offers support in case of material need in the form of one-time financial aid or free meal tickets for the canteens.
You can reach the Social Counseling Service by e-mail: sozialberatung@studentenwerk-dresden.de

Counseling for psychological problems can be found at the Psychosocial Counseling Center (PSB/ Psychosoziale Beratungsstelle).
You can reach the PSB by e-mail: psb@studentenwerk-dresden.de

An application for an Agricola Scholarship can be submitted by students from Ukraine to the Student Financing Division. The scholarship enables full-time funding of study stays (standard period of study) of particularly talented students for the acquisition of a professional degree at a university or university of applied sciences in the Free State of Saxony in a technical, scientific or medical subject. In particularly justified cases, students of other subjects can also be sponsored.

Many other supporters try to coordinate offers of help and to bundle ideas for support, for example:

TU Dresden provides information on Ukraine aid and on contact points for people seeking help.
Also, the HTW refers to various offers of help.

The state capital Dresden also provides information about support for people affected by war.

Since March 4, the Free State of Saxony has set up a new service portal at www.buergerbeteiligung.sachsen.de to better coordinate offers of help.
Citizens and supporters can now report their offers to those seeking help via the participation portal.

The DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) provides important information and support opportunities for Ukrainian students and scientists.

A collection of frequent questions and answers for refugees from Ukraine, compiled by the working staff of the Federal Government Commissioner for Migration, Refugees and Integration at the Federal Chancellery, can be found here.
