Dresdner Gitarrenensemble (Dresden Guitar Ensemble)
The Dresden Guitar Ensemble is a colorful blend of 18 guitar enthusiasts, among them students from various degree courses, music school teachers and trainee teachers.
It was a shared love of guitar music and the joy of playing together that led us to found our ensemble in the fall of 2004 in Dresden.
After several small gigs in Dresden, including musical support for exhibition openings and anniversaries, we gave our first own concert in the summer of 2006 at the Tusculum student building in Dresden.
On 30 September 2006, we took place in the 11th annual Saxony Stringed Instrument Festival in Freiberg and were thrilled to win first place there.
We played out the year 2006 with a Christmas concert together with the vocal ensemble Amici della musica from Hoyerswerda.
Always on the lookout for opportunities to gig in Dresden and the area, we played two own shows in Dresden’s churches Thomaskirche and Christophoruskirche in 2007.
The peak of our ensemble efforts so far was our participation in the Saxony state orchestra competition in Plauen on 23 June 207, where we received 21.2 points (very good).
On 2 March 2008, we gave a concert with our new program at the Apostelkirche in Dresden-Trachau.
Another peak moment was the founding of our club in August 2011 with 8 active members and several more passive club members, consisting of former guitarists and sponsors.
Our repertoire is a cross section of various musical epochs under the motto “From Baroque to Modern”.
