Studentenwerk Dresden

The Dresden Guitar Ensemble consists of 10-12 enthusiastic guitarists who enjoy making music together in their free time. The love for guitar music made us found our ensemble in Dresden in autumn 2004.

After several smaller performances in Dresden, among other things as musical framing of exhibition openings and anniversaries, we gave our first own concert in the summer 2006 in the Dresden student house Tusculum. Since then we regularly play concerts in and around Dresden and also participate in various events, such as the Fete de la Musique or the Saxon Plucked String Orchestra Meeting. We also took part in the Saxon Orchestra Competition and did very well there.

During the Corona period, we expanded our technical know-how and continued our rehearsal work in online rehearsals. Since 2022 we have been rehearsing again every two weeks on Thursday evenings at the Heinrich Schütz Conservatory in Dresden. We recorded the result of our work in our first own CD "Fernweh", which we produced in a studio in Pirna in summer 2022.

Under the direction of Juliane Byrenheid we dedicate ourselves to a broad repertoire, which the classical guitar offers. We present a large cross-section of different epochs of guitar music from the Renaissance to the modern age.
